Its Been Awhile Since A Mac Gave Me An Erection

…but it is the new year. And while I really do hate to admit it, Apple seems to be consistently putting out more and more cool shit. Today they unveiled (or at least, today I took notice of) their incredibly smoove 17″ Powerbook. Take a look:

Holy crap! Where do I put my wang???

Jeez, it’s becoming harder and harder to be a PC enthusiast these days. They run image and video editing apps like a Ferarri and have screens that make me want to commit autoerotic asphyxiation. Now all they have to work on is the games, and getting the prices out of the laughable level (which they seem to be trying to accomplish) and I’ll be sold. Besides, their ads have adorable girls that make nerds like us swoon, whereas we have casting call rejects for the new season of My Favorite Moron. Maybe we think we’re too infallible. After all, we are enthusiasts of Windows, the most mind numbingly anger-provoking OS on the market.

*looks at widescreen powerbook again*

Uh… what were we talking about?

  1. Sigh…Too bad it comes with Mac OS… that’s the thing that keeps me from liking Mac computers…that clunky damn OS

  2. OSXI recently tried new Mac OSX and even though I usually hate Apple, it’s pretty fuckin nice. It’s stable as hell, never froze on me once or quit my programs or anything. If it had the games I’d be using it in a second. PS- that new laptop has a lighted keyboard that automatically comes on when the computer senses low ambient light

  3. Oh yeaI’ve had one for almost a year. Worth every penny. After working with windows for so long, you forget that products that you pay so much for are supposed to.. you know.. work. The fact that is just fucking works and doesn’t turn me into a constant computer tech on my own computer is worth the extra dough. \”You mean I don’t have to defrag and scandisk and tweak startup shit and reformat every 4 months?\”… I could go on but I won’t. Other than to say I’ll never purchase another PC.

  4. I don’t know…I don’t have a Mac. I never have had a Mac. But I will say the new Macs look pretty nice. It would be tough to leave the Windows world though…

  5. Pretty damn sweet all right. If I were in the notebook market I’d definitely be torn. But as far as switching to Apple for a desktop… It’s gonna take a LOT to make that happen. I love to tinker too much, which doesn’t work with their systems.

  6. DesktopsAs soon as that 17\” PowerBook comes out I’m getting rid of my x86 desktop and replacing it with that. It’s one slick machine. I hardly play games anymore, and even if I do it’s on my GameCube. I hate Windows XP with a passion, and I love Unix. It’s everything I need.

  7. i *heart* AppleWow. I want one of these things. The 17\” may be a little big to crate around (but still damn light) but the 15\” has had my affections for a long time. If only i had money. PS, to all you MacOS haters: check out OSX, it’s completely different. It doesn’t suck, has the stability, custmizability, and OSS apps of unix. Who want’s to give me money?

  8. Too damn bigI’ve got a Vaio with a 16\” screen, and that’s starting to get to the point that it’s a bitch to lug around. Notebooks don’t need to get any bigger. If you want something bigger than 15 or 16 inches, by a damn lcd monitor and plug that in when you’re home.

  9. Mac’s Only! Fuck Windows!Apple rules! Windows…doesn’t. I own one of almost everything Apple has put out since 1999- imac, ipod, g4 tower, g4 powerbook, ibook and the airport basestation. These things rock. I’m a movie director in southern california, and all i can say is Mac’s Only! Fuck Windows!

  10. OSXYeah, I like the new mac os, too. Stable as hell and a really rich gui. But really makes me ejaculate is X11 compatibility, so you can run tons of UNIX apps on it. Anyone who derides mac for it’s lack of available software should check out this link:http://www.apple.com/macosx/x11/

  11. jesus fucking christHm, let’s see, apple’s got the usuals in here- the overpricing- their legendary shipping, availability, and support problems- $350 for a warranty past 90 days (!) (see above)- a shitload of apps that still must be run under emulation … and now we have to contend with a bunch of mac users touting their X11 compatability when half of them don’t even know what the fuck X11 is. The same maccies asking me ‘what are permissions again’? are expected to get X11? And these are the same fags spouting off \”OSX has UNIX in it!!\” as if they personally invented the goddamn thing? Jesus. Kill me now. But, oh, yeah, their dock is animated… B.F.D.

  12. whateverSupport problems? Why have they been rated number one in support and service for over a year? 90 day warranty? No, it has a one year warranty. 90 days of phone support. The mac people that ask about permissions won’t ever look at X11. Those that know what permissions are, will love having X11. X11 is not an emulator, either. The apps for it are compiled for PPC/Darwin, so they are run natively, just not with Quartz and such.
