Guyver (series)
Ahh, one of
my favorite anime series of all time. This is one ass-kicking set of half-hour episodes,
and I highly reccommend picking it up. The story begins in a city in Japan, present day. A
powerful company called Chronos has unlocked the technology to transform humans into
gigantic monsters called Zoanoids. During a geological dig, three strange disc-shaped
artifacts are found. Only Chronos knows what they hold inside, a Bio-booster armor many
times more powerful than any Zoanoid in strength and physic ability. One of their
scientists intercepts the units, and attempts to take them out of the reach of the evil
corporation. A team of Zoanoids goes after the scientist, and after a tense battle, the
scientist self-destructs, sending all of the Bio-Booster units flying. While walking home
from school, two friends, Tetsuro and Sho, find one of the units. Sho decides to pick up
the unit, and is wrapped in its tendrils. After bonding with the unit, Sho transforms into
the Guyver. The Zoanoids stumble upon them while searching for the missing units, and
attempt to kill Tetsuro. But Sho, with the help of the Guyver bio-booster armor makes
quick work of the Zoanoids. Thus begins the story of Sho's attempt to live an ordinary
life while being hunted by Chronos, the evil corporation.
This anime series kicks ass. The battle scenes are intense, the story is great, and the animation is top-notch. Unfortunately the series is cut shorter than the manga, but it is still a damn fine addition to any anime fan's collection.
