Girls Of Beauty And The Geek

Your slices of the day are mildly split up. One, because you’ve got the real slice… Megan Hauserman. She’s the winner of “Beauty and the Geek” this season, and she was a Playboy Cyber Girl. Which means that she got naked but never actually appeared in the magazine. She does, however, appear in her gallery. So enjoy that.

The other slice is Andrea Ciliberti, who was Miss Missouri USA 2005, yet has a remarkably lacking stable of photos online… or at least SOTD seems to think so. Submit some more photos if you have them.

There are still a few chicks from that show waiting to grace your pupils, from what I understand, so stick around.

  1. This video contains footage of the most infamous and malicious programs on the Web.

Spyware, Adware, Trojans, Worms, Keyloggers, Toolbar Hijackers, and other harmful programs are all tracking programs that secretly install onto your computer. Once you’re infected with these malicious programs, your privacy and personal information are at risk! Spyware, as well as other malicious programs, can go from dangerous, stealing your passwords and credit card information, to simply annoying you with their excessive popups.

These malicious programs can track your surfing habits, abuse your Internet connection by sending this data to a third party, profile your shopping preferences, hijack your browser, and alter important system files – all without your knowledge or permission. The security and privacy implications of these exploits should not be taken lightly.

Immediate action must be taken to rid yourself of these computer infestations.

What does everyone think of these new submissions?

From March 6th to the 9th, I’ll be in San Francisco at the Independent Games Festival, showing the latest demo of Castle Crashers for XBOX 360 Live Arcade!

The event is industry-only and we have won awards for the past two years. In 2005, Alien Hominid took home three awards (Audience, Innovation in Visual Arts, Technical Excellence) and last year, Dad ‘n Me won for Best Web Browser Game.

This year, Castle Crashers is up for an award in visual arts, as well as the Audience Award. You can view all the nominees on Gamespot:

    IGF NOMINEES: VOTE!

This page allows you to vote for the Audience Award, so feel free to vote for Castle Crashers if you think it’s the hottest game on there! 🙂

Also showing at IGF is Edmund McMillen’s Blast Miner. This is a great game that is available right now! If you ever enjoyed The Incredible Machine, you will fall in love with Blast Miner. Edmund has been a long time member of the community here on NG and has developed some amazing games, such as Tri-Achnid! If I haven’t made myself clear enough, GO BUY BLAST MINER!

While you’re in the shopping mood, go buy some Newgrounds / AngryFaic stickers! The success of these stickers will determine our future sticker-making plans.

The next public showing of Castle Crashers will be at Comic-Con in San Diego, from Thursday, July 26th until Sunday, July 29th. This will be a CRAZY YEAR. While the Behemoth has had a booth every year since 2003 (check out my highlights from 2004, 2005 and 2006, this year will be the first year that Newgrounds has booth space! We’re also adjacent to the guys from College University and not too far from Tomorrow’s Nobodies.

Visiting NG artists will be able to book a spot and have some face time at our booth, where we are also selling t-shirts and artist DVDs. If you are a popular artist who has something to sell or if you plan to be in town, please PM me and we can talk about it!

Expect a TON of NG people to be attending this year (including Stamper), which means good times at the J-Bar and on the roof of the Marriott. If you are anywhere near the San Diego area, make room on your calendar!

Finally… Remember that Pico Day is coming on April 30th! I still need to post a formal announcement, with a new pre-loader for 2007 and all that good stuff, but here are the basics: On April 30th, everyone is invited to submit their own original games and movies with a Pico theme. Because Pico is such a cherished NG character, your submission must be branded with our custom Pico pre-loader (available soon) and include links to the Pico page on NG. Winners will receive some fun gifts, as well as CASH!

    1st Place: $5,000
    2nd Place: $3,000
    3rd Place: $2,000
    4th Place: $1,000
    5th Place: $1,000
    6th Place: $1,000
    7th-10th: $500

Some artists have already started on their Pico Day submissions but the rest of you only have two months, so you’ll need to work hard and fast! Good luck!

PLEASE NOTE: You should use music from the NG Audio Portal, rather than commercial songs in your submissions, especially for Pico Day!

There is currently a contest in the audio forums where users are invited to help find good “Pico’eque” music. Even if you don’t have any Flash or music skills, you can participate in this contest and win some free stuff!

I’ll be repeating all this in the coming weeks, to remind everyone!
