Holy shit, Anna Nicole Smith has died this afternoon.
Reality TV star and former model Anna Nicole Smith was pronounced dead Thursday after being taken to a Florida hospital after being found unconscious in her hotel room, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the case told CNN.
Smith, 39, collapsed at a south Florida hotel and was taken to a local hospital, according to news reports.
According to reports, Smith was found unresponsive in her hotel room.
Yeesh. Rough year.

September 11, 2001 was one of the darkest days in our nation’s recent history; a day our country was shaken to its very foundation. The United States experienced the worst incident of terrorism in its history: the coordinated hijacking of four commercial airliners. Despite the destruction and devastation, stories of courage and heroism emerged.
On September 11, 2001, shortly after terrorists flew airplanes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and into the Pentagon, the forty passengers and crewmembers on United Airlines Flight 93 fought a battle in the sky over Pennsylvania. These forty heroes won their battle against terrorists and thwarted a planned attack on our nation’s capital, saving countless numbers of lives, but sacrificing their own in a field just east of Pittsburgh, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
The story of Flight 93 is a national treasure — a story of hope in human courage and cooperation. When confronted with the gravity of their situation, the passengers and crew of Flight 93 chose to act heroically and sacrifice their lives for their country. These 40 heroes made a democratic decision to fight back against terrorism and thereby thwarted a planned attack on our nation’s capital, saving countless numbers of lives.
We are currently engaged in a $30 million campaign effort to memorialize the spontaneous acts of courage and leadership that took place on Flight 93. It will take approximately 2 years to complete engineering, final design drawings and construction drawings for the memorial, the visitor center, roads and utilities. This parallels the two-year fundraising campaign. If construction starts in Fiscal Year 09, we are aiming for a 10-year anniversary Grand Opening in 2011.
We are inspired by the patriotism of the 40 ordinary citizens of Flight 93. Our country has always lifted up ordinary individuals who acted in extraordinary ways. The Passengers and Crew of Flight 93 are part of this great American tradition. They are examples of the American ideals of citizenship and patriotism for a new century and in a changing global context.
The Flight 93 National Memorial located in Western Pennsylvania will be a place that preserves and honors their spontaneous acts of courage and leadership for future generations. They deserve a great memorial; and we and future citizens of our great nation will be inspired by the story it will preserve – may their spontaneous leadership and collective acts of courage and sacrifice continue to inspire and instruct us.
The opening is scheduled for 2011, the 10-year anniversary of September 11, 2001.
The new year is off to a good start! This past month introduced the arrival of a new trend: Art Forum Collabs! I’m particularly pleased with the latest submission, Food Chain. Not only is it a clever concept but it also features music from the Audio Portal, as ALL SUBMISSIONS SHOULD!
We had some out of town visitors in January, with Dan Paladin visiting from Cleveland to work on Castle Crashers and DanMalo in town from Vegas to help with the post-holiday prize rush. We made Queers of War, which disturbed many users but apparently pleased enough to get voted #1 this month. Don’t worry, the prize is being passed down the line!
QoW also attracted a threatening letter from Epic’s legal representation, although the threat was withdrawn after a chat with the VERY COOL people at Epic. I was hesitant to share any of the ongoing drama publicly because I didn’t want to unintentionally villainize Epic, as we really are HUGE FANS of Gears of War and think that every gamer in their right mind should own a copy.
Our shipment of 6×11 Wacom tablets finally arrived, so we started sending out the Wacom tablets from our Holiday Give-Away! So far we have shipped out all the tablets for the US winners. We still need to ship out the international winners, which will require customs forms in triplicate and all that crap.

According to the news report I saw this morning, the coroner is saying that she didn’t die of a mixture of drugs and alcohol as people suspected. He could find no evidence of alcohol in her stomach at all. Apparently she had been suffering from flu like symptoms following a breast implant correction operation so it might have been an infection.
